During AllThingsDigital’s “Dive Into Mobile” conference today, corporate vice president of the Windows Phone Division, Terry Myerson has let some very interesting and quite important tidbits out.

In a very important and soothing message for NokiaTerry Myerson has made it clear that, Microsoft sees no need to consider a foray into phone hardware business.

It would have to be something where Nokia or HTC was not providing the consumer experience we think is possible with our platform.” He doesn’t see a need for Microsoft to get into the phone hardware business.

Microsoft is happy or rather proud with kind of hardware Nokia is bringing into!! They also mentioned Nokia as “a great partner” :).

Not only the handsets that have shipped so far, but the handsets that are coming soon. I’m incredibly proud of the work they’ve done. Nokia is a “great partner” for Microsoft.”

He also mentioned the focus to achieve 200 million  phone sales per year with the same model of their current hardware partners. It is certainly in sync with CEO Elop talking about hitting 10% market share soon. Good alignment of goals here!!

Our partnership with our current hardware partners, it’s actually going quite well. No one hears about the progress in Poland or Mexico or Italy. For where we’re at right now, the focus is to really get to 200 million phones a year through the current model.”
