Microsoft just pushed the cumulative update Build 14267.1004 to the first Windows 10 Mobile Redstone build, the Build 14267 to Windows Insiders on Fast Ring. You can read the official changelog and Known Issues and more devices to get it by following the links. The build brings fixes to some of the known issues faced by Insiders with the Build 14267 but also packs a surprise new feature in form of Visual Voicemail for Dual-Sim devices.

Now, time for  our hands-on first impressions, bug and multitasking demo video on a latest Flagship Lumia 950 XL. We will also share the installation experience of the Build 14267.1004.

Installation Experience:

The Installation experience has been smooth on our Lumia 950 XL and depending upon the network or WiFi conditions, it took around 35-40 minutes for the build to get downloaded. Installation and data migration takes  30-35 minutes more. You will be usually notified for a restart when the download has completed in background. In case you don’t see the Build available for you and you have any of the Lumia 550, 650, 950 and 950 XL, try re-enrolling to Fast ring by opening the Windows Insider app.

It is a full build however and may require up to 1.20 GB of free storage. So, check the storage before you upgrade and you can check our tutorial on how to prepare for upgrade to Windows 10 Mobile.

First Impressions, Bugs & Hands-on demo (including Multitasking 16 Apps):

During our brief hands-on time with the Build 14267.1004, we needed to do a soft reset once to fix the frozen start screen. Apart from this, the build has offered a smooth performance across the UI navigation and you can see that in the video too. We demoed multitasking with 16 apps open in the background and Lumia 950 XL handles it well with no issues faced in apps resuming fast from background. We haven’t faced native apps crashing or freezing issues yet.

Microsoft Edge is also working fine but you can see some garbled text in settings, (check the video demo below). Battery Life has been close to satisfactory with our Lumia 950 XL managing 22-24 hours with heavy use. We have done hard reset on our devices and we recommend if you are facing lots of issues.
