An update to the Lumia 940 and Lumia 940 XL launch event story that we have shared in the original post below. A tip we have received from a person, who wants to remain anonymous, claims that the Lumia 940 and Lumia 940 XL launch event is scheduled to take place on October 19 in New York.
The tip claims not only two flagship Lumias, but Surface Pro 4 Tablet and even a new Microsoft Band may get unveiled during the event. So, it is gonna be really big fat Microsoft event on October 19, if the tip is correct.

We had told you back in July that Lumia 940 and Lumia 940 XL will be launched during a “ late September to early October time” frame by Microsoft. As we are already nearing September, we obviously need to have more precise information about the launch timings.
So, now we can confirm via our sources that Microsoft is planning to launch both Lumia 940 and Lumia 940 XL during a big launch event in the month of October. The launch event will be held in New York city and there may be some cool new accessories for these devices too. Some new accessories meant for “continuum for phones“, New Treasure Tag and some headsets may also be announced. This news has been broken first by Chinese site WPDang and we were able to confirm it.

Release to market & pricing:
These devices running Windows 10 Mobile will ship soon after the announcement and by end of October may be available to order in some markets. Pricing wise, our sources expect a premium pricing, but nothing astronomical. Expect a pricing of around or slightly higher than $649 for Lumia 940 XL and around or slightly higher than $600 for Lumia 950.
Talking about pricing for India, expect Lumia 940 to be priced around or slightly higher than 48000 INR and Lumia 940 XL around or slightly higher than 54000 INR in India. This info comes from some of our retailer (Microsoft Mobile priority dealer) friends, who are already rejoicing over the upcoming Flagships.
