In a blog post over the Conversations blog, Microsoft has talked about cameras on recently launched Lumia 640‘s and Lumia 640 XL. It has also urged Lumia 640 and 640 XL owners to compare cameras on these devices to cameras on much more expensive devices.

When looking for the next imaging innovations to create and deliver the best smartphone cameras available today, Juha says:

“We have been consistently developing better and better imaging algorithms over the years. And, Lumia Denim with new Lumia Camera 5 app is one of the most significant improvements we have made since the first Windows 8 devices.

“I am so proud that we could bring that to Lumia 640 and Lumia 640 XL. This way, we introduce Living Images, Rich Capture, Moment Capture*, and of course, very good image quality to a much larger audience. Compare the image quality to much more expensive devices from our competitors and you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

We know how Nokia (Microsoft Mobile) has always focused on imaging prowess of the Lumia range and recently Lumia 830’s PureView camera impressed us a lot in spite of its relatively small sensor size.

It seems Lumia 640‘s 8 MP and Lumia 640 XL’s 13 MP camera are also quite impressive, if official samples are some indication. Like always, we will love to bring detailed camera impressions of both the cameras to you when we receive the review unit.
