Updated: No Device launch on January 12. Windows 10 Mobile roll-out announcement still on cards

Lumia 650 vs Lumia 850

Update:

As per our trusted sources, a device launch is not on cards for tomorrow, January 12. But Microsoft may make some sort of announcement or start rolling out Windows 10 Mobile to older devices. The build in question may be the latest preview build 10586.63 and considering it has been just released to Fast Ring, roll-out tomorrow looks suspect. So, we may hope for an announcement tomorrow.

Original:

If you remember we reported via our sources that a high-end mid-ranger that can come as Lumia 750 / or any other name is due for launch in late December to Early January. Later we shared enough evidence to show that at least one mid-ranger is coming.

Now if a recent tip from an anonymous tipster has to be taken into account it seems the first information about a mid-ranger getting announced in early January may hold true. As per the tip, Microsoft is preparing to make some Mobile related announcements on January 12. It seems what we have referred as Lumia 850 in leaks or the sole high-end mid-ranger till now may be launched on January 12. Microsoft may also plan to reveal plans or roll-out Windows 10 Mobile update to first batch of Windows Phone 8.1 devices.

As always, since it is not from our regular sources take it with a pinch of salt and keep your fingers crossed. Hope January 12 brings some cheer for Lumia and Windows Phone fans!!

Lumia naming doesn’t make sense anymore, so should be replaced by sensible one.

  • viipottaja

Seems much more likely that they will simply announce the 650.

    Troll article?

  • awaid

hi kn many other sources say that 650 is the last lumia can you please tell me is it correct ? Can we see lumia 850 or 750?many people like Daniel rubino say that 750 & 850 are cancelled

Msft say 6 phones a year and more devices are coming?? is it just rumours or we actually see lumia 850 &750 ???

where you read it? i don’t think that microsoft end lumias production because they’re inverting a lot of money to develop windows 10 mobile.

We never said that Microsoft is not producing new Lumias. Can your produce any such article.

Lumia 650 and one more mid-ranger is certainly coming. There may be one or two more, but not confirmed yet.

I don’t know if this rumor is true or not. But MS does need a upper mid-range phone. The gap between L650 (SD212) and L950 is just too big. A SD615/617 phone to fill the gap is necessary.

  • Julio Canizales

I hope that Phone be a 650 XL instead of 850, and sports a SD 615/617, also MS could start rolling out W10M to country variants phones, i guess, well, we’ll have to wait some days more.

Seeing how the normal 650 is confirmed to have a shitty SD2xx processor I highly doubt they would use a SD617 in the 650xl.

No physical camera button on the 850 ?

    • Kamal

No, physical keys on Lumia 950, Lumia 950 XL, no metal frame too. You never know of Microsoft. Though you have a point but may be Microsoft has another name for it. May be Lumia 650 XL 🙂

      • AbhiWin10

Are you serious !! The 950 and 950 XL HAVE PHYSICAL CAMERA BUTTON with 2 stage capture too !!!

      • Pete

the 950 and 950 xl has 3 physical keys volume up/down, on/off and wait for it a dedicated camera button not sure what you been looking at.

        • Kamal

          Hardware navigation keys…

    • Michael Fernandez

That could also mean no Pure View camera on 850…. if this not just a rumor of-course…
