Firmware Lumia 950

Our Lumia 950 XL review unit and many other readers’ Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL devices have received new firmware updates. It is rolling out to all Lumia 950 / 950 XL devices and non-insiders should be able to receive it without any issues, provided it is rolling out for your region. If you are enrolled in Insider Preview program however, you can follow the instructions to get it on your devices. As you can check in the screenshot above my Lumia 950 XL was able to update to the new firmware even after being on Build 10586.71.

We have started rolling out a new firmware update for Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL: 01078.00038.16025.390xx. Key improvements in this release include:

  • Stability fixes.
  • Improvements for GPS reliability.
  • Improvements for call audio quality.

The availability of this update may depend on your phone model, region or network service provider. At the time of writing this post, the update is available mainly for selected open market variants, but the rollouts should continue gradually during the coming days and weeks.

Windows 10 is updating continuously, so make sure you follow all the update notifications that appear on your phone. To check for updates, you can also tap Settings > Update & security > Phone update > Check for updates. For detailed update instructions, see.
